This poster urged people to work where there was need to support the war effort and depicted the sacrifices of the American soldier on his way to invade Tokyo. However, a massive ground invasion never took place. Japan surrendered in August 1945 after the United States dropped atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
