Freedom Day II flyer (front), 1964

This side of the flyer reads: "Freedom Day I Shook the machine!" In February 1964, activists held Freedom Day II, a second student protest against the continued segregation of Chicago’s schools. More than 172,000 students participated in the boycott, which also included a march downtown to city hall.
