Chicago Indian Village community, 1970

Indigenous activists in the early 1970s created a community near Wrigley Field on Chicago’s North Side called Chicago Indian Village (CIV). Mike Chosa, a resident of the Lac du Flambeau Reservation in Wisconsin, led CIV to protest the federal government’s mistreatment of Indigenous people.
