American Indian Movement drum, 1972

In 1968, activists formed the nationwide American Indian Movement (AIM). AIM came to Wounded Knee to publicize bad government policies and broken treaties, as referenced on this drum. Some supported AIM, while others believed its leaders did not care about Wounded Knee.
