World War II propaganda poster, 1945

This poster urged people to work where there was need to support the war effort and depicted the sacrifices of the American soldier on his way to invade Tokyo. However, a massive ground invasion never took place. Instead, the United States forced Japan’s surrender in August 1945 by dropping atomic bombs on two Japanese cities, Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
